So this is the first year I’ve officially had a structured Rep Team. I thought I’d write a blog post to share my heart behind this whole idea. SO when I moved up here in 2017, I did a few senior portrait sessions (like 5 seniors from Cambria Heights) pro bono to get things set in motion — this is how I met Tessa L. (see highlights from her session here). The results were phenomenal… those 5 model sessions I did got the word out about my business, and my bookings doubled in 2018. For the Class of 2019, I photographed seniors from not just CHHS, but 6 additional high schools.
I thought I might be on to something here, so I decided to do an official Senior Model Representative Team for the Class of 2020. While implementing “structure” was a bit rocky to say the least, my Class of 2020 girls have stuck by me and walked through the ups and downs of me learning to explaining everything. Becca P. has especially been helpful with thinking of things I leave out and helping me fill in the gaps #muchlove to you girly.
We launched this team in February, only a few short months ago, but I am thrilled with how far we’ve come already! If you’ve heard me talk about photography, you’ll know that this gig is so much more than just taking pretty pictures. It’s YOU that I care about. It’s the genuine connection I get to make with my clients, and these 10 girls who have decided to partner with me this year and share my photos and get the word out about my business to all the corners of Central Western PA. For them and for me, it’s not so much about what photos I deliver, or what reach they get with sharing their pictures. I’ve come to know and appreciate all of their different personalities. When I see them truly get comfortable in front of the camera, and it clicks in their minds that they can be comfortable on the other side of the lens, my heart leaps for joy.
Some of them are even interested in a new project I’ve started called Project Beauty (I am Beautiful Photography). My dream is to have a one-day workshop where we work together to reclaim our identities for what God intended. Long, long term… I want to offer a discipleship program, in partnership with our local church, in order to walk through life with high school juniors and seniors who are interested in maturing in their walk as followers of Jesus.
When it all comes down to it, He’s the reason why I do everything, to God be the glory. He makes beautiful things, I just capture them (:
